How to reset Roku (soft reset and hard reset)?

Here we’re about to tell that how to do two types of resets, first soft reset and second is hard reset. This will help you to resolve the temporary technical error.

As we whenever we face any technical error in our device then we usually choose an action of reset, which often resolve the error. Same goes for Roku, if you find any technical mess in it just reset the device. There are types of reset, first is soft and second is hard.

Soft Reset

Soft restart is something when you usually restart your data without losing settings or data. Now how to soft reset from your remote:

Home 5 times
One time up
Then rewind twice
And forward twice

How to do soft reset from Menus (Roku models):


Go to Settings, System and then to Power and now System restart. The easiest way to restart your device. Now following is a method of soft reset using button (older Models):
Look at the back of your device, you will see the Reset button (above the power port).  Press the button via paper clip then release it after one second. The reset completed successfully.

Power Pull

If these steps don't work then you can disconnect the power cord (20 seconds) then plug it back.

How to a Hard rest:

Hard reset will make your device empty by clearing all the settings and reset it to factory default

How to do Hard reset via menu:

After soft reset, you have an another option of hard setup
If a soft reset unable to fix your problem, a hard reset may be your only option. This will clear all data off the Roku and reset it to factory default settings. You need to go to Settings, then to System, Advanced system settings and then Factory reset.

 
Using Button (Older Models):

Except the Power cord, remove all cables.
With the help paper clip, hold the Reset button which you will find at the back of your device. Hold the button for 15 seconds.
Continue to hold the Reset button, now from the backside, remove the Power cord.
After releasing the Reset button, plug back the cords.
